About Michaela

Michaela Hollyfield is an artist living and working in Fishguard, Pembrokeshire. She completed her BA in Fine Art at Norwich School of Art, (now known as Norwich University of the Arts), in 1997, and then went on to Aberystwth University to study for her MA in 2013, graduating in 2017.

Much of the stunning Pembrokeshire landscape influences her work.

Michaela paints mainly in oils. She prefers to work on sized but unprimed canvas, and board which is either sized or primed with gesso. Her work is an eclectic mix of figurative, landscape and abstract.

She moves between representational work and intuitively led work. The body of work shown in the gallery spans from 2015 to now, using different motifs as inspiration.

Because of the duality of her practice she feels that the consistent thread in all of the different bodies of her work is her expressive use of colour.

Her studio is in the shed at the bottom of her garden.

MIchaela exhibits locally and participates in the North Pembrokeshire Open Studios from August 22nd to September 6th.

She welcomes visitors during this time, and any people wishing to see her work or visit her studio any othe time need only send an email or call, contact details can be found in the contact section of the website.

Critique

“This journey through imagined landscapes lends the work an elusive quality, which remains captivating through the rich use of colour and the painterly attention to form.”

Sarah Ryan, New Blood Art
